One last country worth mentioning from Europe is Poland. Their online retail sales from 2011 topped $6 billion, and they are projected to continue to grow at the rate of 24% annually for the near future.
Poland is another one of the few countries in Europe that has been experiencing economic growth in otherwise tough times elsewhere in the world.
Less than half of Poland is currently connected to the internet and less than half of those internet users actually completed a purchase online last year.
However, the European Union has been giving grants to Poland to expand their broadband internet infrastructure, especially outside of the major cities. This is one of the main causes for the recent increases in online retail sales here and will continue to cause much more growth in the coming years.
