Map of Oceania

Oceania requires special care to target properly because of their unique geographic location and residents, but it can also be well worth the effort when done correctly. The largest country in this region, Australia, offers more than $35 billion in business-to-consumer e-commerce sales each year, making them the most commonly targeted country in this region for marketers.

This is a unique region because it has some of the longest shipping times when consumers there order products from the mainland USA or Europe. However, major improvements have been seen in this area in recent years. The Australian dollar also holds strength against the US dollar, so citizens have been using their buying power in the states to get more for their money.

There are also groups of people in these countries that are adamant about supporting their local industries and will only purchase through locally owned and operated websites backed up by a local business. However, the percentage of these people has been rapidly decreasing over the past few years to the point where at least half of these residents will consider buying overseas.
