The second largest online retail sales market in Asia can be found in Japan. Although they are considered more advanced than the rest of the Asian market when it comes to the internet and buying online, it is also important to note that this is actually going to cause their growth to begin to slow over the next few years.
However, their sheer purchasing power still makes them a country worth targeting even with their current online retail sales of nearly $20 billion annually.
Future growth in online retail sales in Japan is expected to be modest at about 7% annually.
Even with other countries in the region outpacing them in growth, they will still remain the number two competitor in this region for numerous years and will still be a strong competitor even after their rank has dropped.
